Our Uzbekistan trip follows the old caravan cities west. Add the 4-day Istanbul extension, from RM 2,690, and finish with Jumu'ah at Süleymaniye.
We leave on Saturdays so that Friday falls in Bukhara. Here is the trip day by day, with where we pray and what we eat.
Meet the group and your mutawwif at KLIA Terminal 1 at 8pm for a short briefing. We pray Maghrib and Isyak jamak at the airport surau, then take the overnight flight to Tashkent, about 7 hours.
Land at dawn and pray Subuh at the airport. After breakfast, visit the Hazrati Imam complex and the Muyi Muborak library, which keeps the 7th-century Uthman Quran. Afternoon at Chorsu bazaar, then plov at the Central Asian Plov Centre.
Take the morning Afrosiyob train to Samarkand, 2 hours 10 minutes. Check in and rest, then walk to the Registan for the late-afternoon light on its three madrasas.
Walk the avenue of blue-tiled mausoleums at Shah-i-Zinda while it is still cool. Then Bibi-Khanym mosque, Siyob bazaar for dried apricots and non bread, and Gur-e-Amir after dark.
Drive 25 km to the Imam al-Bukhari memorial complex. Ustaz Hafiz gives a short talk on Sahih al-Bukhari before we pray in the complex mosque. In the afternoon, watch mulberry paper being made by hand at the Konigil mill.
Afrosiyob train to Bukhara, 1 hour 40 minutes. Spend the evening around Lyabi-Hauz, the old pool square under mulberry trees, with dinner in a restored merchant's house.
Morning at the Ark fortress, then Jumu'ah with the local jemaah at Kalyan mosque, beneath the 12th-century Kalyan minaret. The afternoon is free for the covered bazaars, with a ladies-only hammam slot booked for those who want it.
Visit the Bahauddin Naqshband complex outside the city, the four small towers of Chor Minor, and the Sitorai Mohi Hosa summer palace. Last dinner in Bukhara with local musicians.
Train back to Tashkent, about 4 hours. After a farewell dinner, ride the Tashkent metro to see its chandelier-lit stations.
Morning flight to Kuala Lumpur, landing at KLIA in the evening. Travellers on the Istanbul extension fly west instead.
Prices are per person, twin sharing, and include return flights from KLIA, halal meals, entrance fees, tips and an ustaz from Kuala Lumpur.

Ustaz Hafiz Rahman or Ustazah Salmah Idris flies with each group from KLIA, leads jamak and qasar prayers, and gives a short tazkirah at the sites.
Each day is planned around Zuhur and Asar. The coach carries prayer mats, a qibla compass and water for wudhu.
Every restaurant is halal-certified or Muslim-run, and we eat at each one on our scouting trips before we bring a group.
Women travelling alone share with another sister or take a single room at cost. Ladies-only hammam slots are booked in Bukhara and Istanbul.
Departure days are set so that Jumu'ah lands in Bukhara, Istanbul or Marrakech, never on a coach or a plane.

My mother is 72 and walks with a stick. Ustaz Hafiz had a wheelchair waiting at Shah-i-Zinda without us asking, and every lunch stop had a clean place to pray.

In Kyoto the team handed us a printed list of which ramen shops were halal and which were only pork-free. My kids ate without me checking every menu.
